We always hate it when we see a new Seymour Hersh article in the New Yorker, because we know it's going to be something really upsetting that the Bush Administration's done. Last week's article detailed just how badly Donald Rumsfeld treated Gen. Antonio Taguba, who did the investigation on the abuses and torture at Abu Ghraib. Give Gen. Taguba a hero's welcome and hear his story in person at the Commonwealth Club tonight at 6 p.m. 595 Market 2nd Floor (x 2nd St), $18.

It's the Gay Pride Parade! Since you can't watch it on TV anymore anyways, just drag your sorry self out of bed and head anywhere on Market Street between the Embarcadero and Civic Center. Watching it on a webcast just won't be the same! The party goes on at Civic Center from noon to 6. $5 donation to get in.

Everyone knows the Saturday of Pride Weekend is the Dyke March! Put on your motorcycle helmet and take off your top. The theme this year (for the 15th anniversary) is "Healthcare for All," so there's going to be a mammogram truck on site, as well as the usual diverse array of religions, performers, and peoples. The rally and stage show starts at 3 at Dolores Park; the women go marching at 7.

--Hey, there might be something going on at the Castro tonight too, starting around 7.
--They're showing Muppet movies all day (and all weekend, and next weekend) at the Yerba Buena Center! Kid movies in the afternoon (2 p.m. and 4) and The Dark Crystal tonight at 7:30. $8 a pop, at 701 Mission (x 3rd).

Aaieeeee!! Just when you thought the Another Hole In The Head Indiefest horror film fest was over and it was safe to go back outside..... NO!!! --It's Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas's 100th anniversary this year! They're celebrating around the world, and San Francisco's contribution is a staged reading of Stein's last book (Brewsie and Willie) and Toklas's first (The Alice B. --As part of this month's Queer Arts Festival, the LGBT Community Center presents "Are You There God? It's Me, Ben McCoy" (brilliant title), a genderqueer performance about gay culture that's described as a "roller coaster of emotion." 8 p.m., $8-15, 1800 Market Street (x Octavia).

--The Oakland Opera presents the matinee performance of "Great Moments in American History" -- scenes from two new operas they're working with, both about the civil rights movement. SF Improv Fest kicks off tonight with Emo Phillips, performing with Bassprov and 3 For All, at the Buriel Clay Theatre. Get tickets in advance here. Show starts at 8pm, 762 Fulton St, SF.
Movie night in Dolores Park! Show up early to participate in a clap-off to determine whether Hitchcock's M for Murder or Vincent Price's House of Wax will be shown. 8pm, Dolores Park (20th and Dolores).

Get that gigantic backpack and sleeping bag and trek on over to Cody's Books on Fourth Street, as Tony and Maureen Wheeler, the founders of Lonely Planet, read from their new books, Unlikely Destinations (the story of Lonely Planet) and Bad Lands (Tony's trips to dangerous countries).
If you can't make tonight's reading (7 p.m.), they're in town through Friday, reading at Get Lost in SF tomorrow night and Book Passage in Corte Madera on Friday. They've probably already found three great restaurants in the area that none of us have ever heard of before too.

Maybe the naked bikers'll make it out there.

As part of the National Queer Arts Festival, graphic artist and memoirist Alison Bechdel is speaking at Michelle Tea's Radar Reading Series at the SF Public Library tonight! We've been huge fans of Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Out For for, like 10 years now (we're latecomers -- she's been drawing the strip since 1987), and her first graphic novel, Fun Home, about her relationship with her closeted gay father totally blew our mind with its psychoanalytical depth. Graphic artist Ariel Schrag, whom we also love, is speaking too. Koret Auditorium at the Main Library (100 Larkin x Grove), 6 p.m.

--This looks like a can't-miss! ACT is presenting Fields of Gold, a musical about Amish teens in the throes of rumspringa (sampling the modern world). Set to the music of Sting. We quote:
