Much to our surprise, the motion that almost allowed our fair Mayor Gavin Newsom to eschew his monthly cameos Board of Supervisor meeting was tabled. That is to say, it was killed. Dead. According to Sweet Melissa recounts today's nail-biting Board of Supes meeting thusly:

You may recall our presence at a lower Haight neighborhood meeting back in January after a spate of gun violence galvanized the area and turned out hundreds of folks along with news cams and Heather Fong. Well, during that meeting Supervisor Mirkarimi promised that he would somehow find the city funding for a security camera at the corner of Haight and Webster, which is kind of the locus of all things crack-deal in the area. Well, the camera went up!

It's a ticker-tape parade of awful file formats! Supervisor Mirkarimi offered up some Muni info in loathsome .doc, but N-Judah Greg helpfully converted it to slightly-less-loathsome .pdf. What's all the fuss about? Why, Muni's proven dedication to excellence, of course! After a town-hall meeting a few months ago, Muni officials committed to some rigorous timetables for Translink and NextBus and all those nifty time-saving gimmicks. Now it's our turn to make some notes on our calendars, so we know when Muni's deadlines are rolling around! Will they be able to live up to their commitments? Of they will. When's Muni ever let you down?

As we mentioned yesterday, tonight is the MUNI confab with MUNI Director Mr. Ford live in person hosted by District 5 Supervisor Mirkarimi. Take the N-Judah to the County Fair Building (9th and Irving) for this scintillating discussion of service, security and the future of MUNI.
