Thrilling Police Chase Climaxes with Potrero Hill Crash

Early this morning, at around 3 a.m. on Kearny and Market, a street robbery occurred, resulting in an exciting police chase throughout the streets of San Francisco. According to CBS 5/BCN, "a vehicle pursuit of the suspects was initiated, which continued until Illinois and Cesar Chavez streets. The suspect vehicle was involved in a collision, and officers were able to make arrests." Our guess is that the criminals thought they could evade the fuzz by heading over the Bay Bridge. Which is currently closed. Oops.

If so, you might want to call the fuzz immediately. According to SFAppeal / BCN, police are asking the public for help in finding this "27-year-old man wanted in connection with a Tuesday carjacking that followed a botched robbery attempt of a West Portal bank." Arrest in Downtown SF Armed Robbery

This kind of behavior flies in the Mission, is par the course in the TL, and is sometimes OK in the Castro during a particularly drunk Pride weekend. But armed robbery is most certainly not typical in downtown San Francisco. See, a little after midnight on Sunday, Jonathan Dyson was arrested for armed robbery. According to CBS 5, "[a] 30-year-old man had gotten off of work and was walking on Montgomery Street when he noticed two men walking a short distance in front of him ... the two men then stopped and when the victim walked past them, one of the suspects stepped in front of him and pointed a gun at him, demanding property." Mere blocks away from the Ritz-Carlton apartments? Unacceptable! The unidentified victim was uninjured, and managed to call the fuzz a few blocks away, after the robbery occurred. Jonathan Dyson was busted for "attempted robbery, threatening with a weapon, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a concealed firearm."

South SF Man Robbed for his PlayStation3

Around 2 p.m. Friday on the 800 block of Southwood Drive in South San Francisco, an 18-year-old man was robbed of his PlayStation 3. (Mean!) According to KNTV, "he was sitting on a bench when a man approached him and demanded his backpack. The bag contained a PlayStation 3 system, three games and a controller." Initially the victim told his mugger to fuck off, more or less, but after one of the men pulled up his sweatshirt to reveal a black handgun tucked in his waistband, he relented. The suspect is described as "a white man around 20 years old, with short, dark hair and a medium build. Police reports estimate his height as between 5 foot 7 and 6 feet tall," who got into "a four door, silver vehicle parked on Haven Avenue." Alas, not all armed robberies have a happy ending.

Chalk this up to one of those "folks from all over the Bay Area who happen to be in San Francisco doing things that they shouldn't be doing." The accident happened on Alta Street near Montgomery Street, east of Coit Tower. The unidentified man, it seems, fell a non-death-defying 200-feet. Oops. (SFGate)

Much to Mayor Dellums relief -- since this means he won't have to make yet another benign, angry-man speech -- a Hayward Chinese restaurant was targeted last night in the East Bay takeover robber spree. Last night a little after 8 p.m., two suspects brandishing handguns entered the Great River restaurant at 22218 Foothill Blvd, demanding cash and phones from patrons and employees. The suspects are described as "black males who were both wearing black clothing." Wide receiver Javon Walker of the Oakland Raiders was severely beaten, robbed, and left in a daze after a night of heavy partying in Las Vegas. Stripped of "large amounts of cash" and some jewelry, the football player was, it seems, blowing off some steam at such sexily-titled Sin City clubs as Tryst and Body English. According to the esteemed TMZ Walker was last seen "spraying pink champagne into the crowd" over at Body English. ("Sprayed Out Before He Got Laid Out," declares TMZ! Also: God, we thank you for bestowing TMZ and Harvey Levin upon us. Amen.)

Last November's harrowing story about a Glen Park woman being raped twice by the same man, it seems, was just that: a story. It turns out that she fabricated the tale of first being raped as she walked from the Glen Park BART station on Bosworth Street, and then assaulted again by the same man at gunpoint just few days later in her garage. The victim-cum-suspect has yet to have any false-report charges filed...

There's been so many murders lately that it's hard to find a new twist on the stories, so here's one: a Pizza Hut pizza delivery man was shot and killed in the Richmond last night as he was trying to deliver a pizza. Apparently, he got lost and was wandering around trying to find the house he was supposed to deliver the pizza too and when he was stopped by several men trying to rob him. When he tried to run away, he was shot in the back, something that anyone who has ever seen a Western knows is the coward's way.
