We definitely think the venue is too big for her style and personality but it will still be worth it to listen to her quirky lyrics and fun rhymes. Just remember not to stand next to any annoying drunk bitches - they'll ruin everything.

Wednesday, head over to the Independent and catch sOuth, another band from England. Their sound is definitely indie-rock but it's still fresh and not over-played. Check out their newest single, "Better Things". If you want some local music, then the party will be at <strike>Rickshaw Stop</strike> Amoeba with the hugely popular band, The Dodos. We have a feeling that show will be amazing. Update: Rickshaw Stop will be hosting another local favorite: Port O'Brien. They are super; we saw them open for Nada Surf and loved them!

Langhorne Slim will be performing their folk-ish soul music at The Independent on Thursday night. He just released his debut album at the end of last month and was recently on The Late Show with Dave Letterman.

Saturday night, it's time to party it up with Pop Roxx at the DNA Lounge. At eleven, The Frail - one of our favorite local bands - will be throwing down their dance grooves with their electrifying synth sounds and crazy beats. Don't miss this dance explosion! popscene's DJ's Omar and Aaron will be even there. Party starts at 9pm and wear blue - it's the color theme, yo!

Hailing from Vancouver, these guys remind us of the Killers, the Bravery, and These Electric Lives. Friday, BAGeL RADIO presents San Francisco's own indie-rock band, Love is Chemicals. You can't go wrong with that combination.

The concert that we 100% recommend: Punch Brothers featuring Chris Thile at The Independent. Chris Thile is a genius. Absolute genius. We were so upset that Nickel Creek called it quits and ended their farewell tour with Fiona Apple. (What a terrible idea!) It looks like he has redeemed himself, though. There will be two shows, one at 7pm and the other at 10pm. Punch Brother's new CD comes out February 26th.

Both bands are from Oakland, though technically Don Miggs just moved South. It's a hard choice, but we're off to Red Devil Lounge. It looks like MiGGs got a record deal and are working on some new stuff. There'll be a new single and video in March.

Basia Bulat, a Canadian pop music singer/songwriter will be headlining at The Bottom of the Hill on Saturday night. "Oh My Darling," her first full-length album, was released earlier this month on Rough Trade Records. You can watch the video to "In the Night" here. We have a feeling that she's gonna be the "Feist of 2008." Grupo Fantasma, the finest and funkiest latin orchestra to come out of the United States in the last decade is playing at Slim's. They were just featured as NPR's "Song of the Day" and Prince is apparently in-love; how sweet.

The real excitement this weekend is at Great American Music Hall where St. Vincent (seen below) and Foreign Born are playing. Foreign Born (die-hard Obama fans) have been working on "shit tons of new material" which will land in stores fall 2008. Hopefully, they will play some new material. St. Vincent, (aka Annie Clark, along with her full band) is known for her work with Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens. New York Times called her recent release "an extravagant collection of songs..." We just can't get enough.

The UK has already showed their love for Robyn and the EP, as her track “With Every Heartbeat” reached #1 in the charts there. Over in Berkeley, the Audiophiles, will be opening over at Blakes for The Federalists. These four high school guys from San Francisco have been tearing up the local music scene for awhile now and they deserved to be noticed. Update: The Audiophile show is on Friday, not Thursday.

Friday, you have two choices: The Bruises or Editors. If you like smaller venues that serve up amazing local music, then head over to the Red Devil Lounge for The Bruises' CD release party. "We just make music we like, without trying to be a part of any fad or musical trend," says guitarist/singer Jen Black. Now, if you want to see a huge, genuine rock show, then the Editors/Hot Hot Heat/Louis XIV concert at the Warfield, is the place to be. SFist's Krissy saw their 2006 show and said, "Though we’re hard-pressed to find the originality in it, Editors do what they do extremely well." We just love us some bluegrass music (occasionally, that is). Hot Buttered Rum is often described as a rock band but with bluegrass instrumentation: fiddle, banjo, mandolin, up-right bass and acoustic guitar. Love it. You've heard Dan Tyminski's voice on the popular movie, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" He sang the Grammy-winning (and ever so popular) song, "Man of Constant Sorrow" that featured the Soggy Bottom Boys. It will be some good ole' fashion fun.
