digg_url = 'http://digg.com/world_news/Anonymous_Scientology_Protest_Pics_Mountain_View_CA_8_3'; Yay! We get nervous and saddened when the SFist Flickr pool isn't brimming with anti-Scientology protest pics. But today? It is! Well, there are a few of them, anyway. It all went down in Mountain View, with Anon protesting the IAS (International Association of Scientologists) Anniversary. (CoS seems to have some sort of worldwide birthday or anniversary celebration at least once a month. We're not sure why.) All images credited to......

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Photos_Dore_Alley_Fair_San_Francisco_s_Leather_Sex_Fair'; (By Joe Kukura) Yesterday's Up Your Alley Fair is what the Folsom Street Fair used to be before all the tourists pushing baby strollers started showing up. More than 8,000 leather daddies -- and as many as perhaps a dozen biological women -- braved the cold fog wearing little more than a gimp mask and a smile to benefit PAWS, the AIDS Emergency Fund, and others. We tried to limit the......

While not nearly as exciting as Anonymous' cheeky Scientology protests, this little BofA rally managed to voice its distress with the banking company's lack of environmental consciousness. It seems BofA is, like, using coal to run their ATM machines. Or something like that. Who knows. But you can go here and here to find out more about yesterday's skirmish in front of a downtown SF Bank of America. Special thanks goes out to Steve Rhodes,......

Oh wow. You've got to check out some of these photos from the Crucible's 8th Annual Fire Arts Festival, which sparked up in fine fiery glory earlier this month. These shots were snapped up by getinet (Flickr). And the ones involving Bay Area Rapid Transit train are priceless. While the adult in us worries about the Bart train and its riders catching fire, the kid in us wants to see the thing catch fire and......

(By Joe Kukura) It was good times yesterday at the AIDS Walk San Francisco (expect for the parts where we were freezing our asses off, or sobbing at the AIDS Quilt). The annual event raised a whopping $4.5 million-plus for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, though you may wish to add to that total. As usual, the Bluegrassrave Backroom was on the spot -- operating a mobile whiskey bar and serving up endless complimentary whiskey......

Our delightfully insane friends over at Anonymous held a semi-regular protest this weekend, aimed at the frighteningly insane Church of Scientology. But we have to admit: we're sometimes confused as to the message running throughout their rallies. Take, for example, this past weekend's protest, which was heavy on themes of rape, masks, thin girls wearing multiple prints, bubbles, dancing, sheep sodomy, bare chests, screwing, and anal sex. We don't know what you're saying, but we......

KRON 4's two bestest fag-hags (Catherine Heenan, Jan Wahl) and Donna Sachet inexplicably managed to do a decent job covering this year's LGBT Pride Parade. (Bonus points go to field reporter Henry Tenenbaum who didn't know how to pronounce Kamala Harris' name, must to her disgust.) But, of course, their coverage focused on blindly happy, newly married queer couples and their doomed -- doomed, we say! -- children. Gross. But! Here are the totally NSFW......

David Beckham's gargantuan Armani underwear poster splattered against the side of the Macy's building to much acclaim yesterday. "Just in time for gay-wedding gift shopping," declares Gawker, here are some shots of the man's monstrous, 100% cotton-sheathed unit as it's being unleashed to the hungry masses below. Oh, and Becks was also on-hand to sign some autographs to a few lucky fans. Sadly, there was no sign of Posh/Posh Spice/Victoria Beckham in the crowd. Alas.......

Same-sex wedding sympathizers SF Weekly points out this ad many of you have seen around town as of late. They also point out that gay marriage in San Francisco = cash, serious coinage, and treasure chests full of diamonds, pearls, and rubies for each and every citizen! We couldn't be happier. Money is power, folks. And SF is about to feel loads of it splatter against its backside when scores of queers come here......

Pope Benedict XVI took to his popemobile after meeting with President Bush at the White House this morning. The pontiff, who is celebrating his 81st birthday today, rode west beginning around noon on Pennsylvania Ave. through Washington Circle before heading north on Rock Creek Parkway before exiting at Massachusetts Ave. to arrive at the Vatican embassy. A large, enthusiastic crowd of about 10,000 gathered to cheer on the Pope as he rode by, rather swiftly......

photo credit: 37 °C Last night's four-alarm fire at Valencia and 25th/26th Streets roared for two long hours, brought the Dovre Club's St. Paddy's Day revelry to a halt, and left 59 people temporarily homeless. Over 130 firefighters were on the scene, and only two people suffered minor injuries. Whew. While the cause of the fire is still unknown and scared many Mission residents, it did bring out the inner photojournalist inside many of......

Man, the entrepreneurship bug is catching them young this day. This aspiring tattoo artist was plying his wares at the Chris Johanson opening at Jack Hanley Gallery on Saturday night. While walking along Post Street this morning, we came across the above "mysterious" sign at Taylor Street and wondered where the film shoot was. Then we happened to turn down Mason and encountered the film crew at Geary and Mason, as an SFist tipster noted earlier. The set-up was all still there on our walk back home this evening. We're guessing it was for a commercial of some sort. They filmed a Quaker Oats......

"Architecture of Density" -- Fox Plaza Apartments First, this a phenomenal shot, found in balmes' Flickr page. He or she managed to make crack towers look almost aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Omigod people! A genuine Christmas miracle happened on the latest "Project Runway"!? Didja see it? Wasn't it awesome? Let's discuss. So, on the previous episode of "Project Runway" we lost our last local, Chris March, when he created a "shoulder pads"-inspired jacket that would have made Joan Crawford cry. We were on the fence about continuing to cover the show, as the only local left, Jack, was really just a quasi-local, as he went to......

A sad week for LAist as they lose their trusted and amazing editor Tony Pierce to the LA Times, but what a blast his last week was.
