Truck Fire at 25th and <s>Geary</s> Fulton

About an hour ago this morning, Aileen Tat snapped this shot of a truck blaze at 25th and Geary Fulton. We're not sure if this is the work of the carsonist -- which we doubt since the recent spat of car fires take place in the dark of morning -- but we'll update as soon as we know more.

As much as we try not to do 'caption this!' posts, we couldn't resist this one.

"Please Don't <s>Eat</s> Feed the Pigeons"

Found at Geary and Fillmore, Greg Dewar of N Judah Chronicles came across this bilingual, demanding sign that asks you to not cook and eat San Francisco's pigeons.

<em>People</em> Lands Exclusive Jaycee Dugard Photo

Whether you want to admit it or not, this is what we've all been waiting for. The money shot. The big reveal. Move that van. Here is what Jaycee Dugard looks like today. The most recent edition of People released an exclusive photo of the adult Dugard early this morning. And, well, here it is.

Behold the Empty Bay Bridge

Spectacular, isn't it?

Whast's Going On Here, Nova?

Heh.

Meanwhile, in Berkeley...

"All You Need is a Crane"

This photo on Curbed seriously made our afternoon. Apparently, a long-time Curbed lurker discovered this rooftop streamliner while doing a building inspection for a housing project in the Tenderloin. Blogger 40Goingon28 confirms it's located at the 100 block of Turk Street. Another Curbed commenter speculates that "All you need is an airsteam and a crane" to pull off this feat. See this beauty from another angle.

Stockton Residents Gather to Witness Image of Michael Jackson on a Tree Stump

Apparently, the image of Michael Jackson appeared on a Stockton tree stump, pictured at right, the day the pop icon passed away, and crowds have begun to gather ever since. Owner of the tree stump, Felix Garcia, has lived on the property for 22 years and had never seen MJ's image until now. Jackson once visited Stockton twenty years ago to comfort the community after a school shooting. "To Stockton, Michael Jackson meant more to us than Jesus... I think they're both about even," said one resident. Personally, we think the image looks more like Gene Simmons in full KISS make-up. [Via D-Listed, the Awl, CBS13]

The Haight Street Underworld

Flickr photographer Andertho captured this shot of an alley off Haight Street, which provoked quite a bit of HDR love-"haight" in the comments. Well, we love it.

Happy 4th of July!

Inexhaustible photog, Plug 1 of What I'm Seeing, snagged this shot, entitled "Talking in Circles" at Albany Bulb. Certainly a head-scratcher.

Beware of Blind, Gargantuan Cyclists Roaming City Streets

SFist reader and commenter uggie sent us the above image. It's a newly installed "walk your bike or scooter to the parking area" sign on a city government building parking lot, which is about 8 feet from the ground in English and in Braille.

The Lights Coming In and Out at SFO

This glorious shot comes to you from noted photographer exxonvaldez. He captures "[r]unway 1 departures from San Francisco International Airport between 10:22pm and 11:38pm on June 27, 2009, as seen from Brisbane Marina."

Tough Times at the DMV

With budget cuts, and long lines, apparently this is the easiest way for disgruntled patrons at the Fell Street DMV to get out their frustrations. The colors are very harmonious though.

Mob Scene at Polling Places

Oh, this is rich.

Will Fetch Your Swarm of Bees

Spider Monkey found this cute flyer in West Berkeley and sent it to us via the SFist Contribute page. We wonder if they'd come all the way to the Mission for a swarm of bees.

Jonesing

There's nothing worse than the smell of a fresh cigarette stub on Muni (aside from the less frequent bodily functions or a burrito in the process of being eaten).

Flags at half-mast in the cold light thrown by the sunset.

It's been a tough couple days for The Bay Area.

The Oakland Police had never lost more than two officers on the same day before.

Send condolences/flowers/letters here for any of the families involved:

Mmm, delicious progress.

F&@! You, Too

Oh, this is rich. Flickr photog extraordinaire The Inadvertent Gardener snapped this shot. While taking a shot of a rain-soaked BART train, she inadvertently (heh) captured an angry man's middle finger. She explains what went down.
