We could've gone with a YouTube clip of the video for Love Is A Battlefield (totally one of the best videos ever), but we went instead for the Benatards doing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" at the Eagle Tavern -- that's right, Pat Benatar's playing a show tonight! If you can get up to the Marin County Fair in San Rafael, Ms. Benatar and her husband Neil Girardo will be performing hits like "Heartbreaker," "Invincible," and "We Belong," among many others starting at 7:30 tonight. Concert is free with fair admission ($13), at 10 Avenue of the Flags.

We're a little new to this whole iPod thing as we finally broke down and got one a few weeks ago (the 30GB video iPod if you must ask). And yes, we LOVE IT, so much so we're a little amazed how civilization has managed to progress without them. But we are also finding out that we are becoming a little too obsessed with it. Which we're sure you all know about because we're totally behind the curve on all this. But what we seem to obsess with most isn't the actual iPod but the iPod playlist. We just can't stop thinking about our playlist.

Okay, this SFist has complained in the past about indie rock. It's not the indie part so much as the rock part -- all too often we find that it's "rawk" instead of "rock." Fauxhawk instead of mohawk. Post-punk instead of punk. Blues-influenced instead of bluesy. You get our drift. Look, we like danceable stuff, with syncopated rhythms, groovy baselines, horns and/or an organ. You can keep your crunchy guitars and self-reflexive lyrics to yourself, thank you very much. So that's why we were so surprised when we started tapping our feet and nodding our head in time to the bands at Mesh's Spring Spectacular party on Saturday night at the Rickshaw stop. After the jump: sport coats, Pat Benatar boots and our conversion to the church of Jillian Iva.
