The Denver Biz Times is reporting that Denver-based MediaNews Group -- the owner of the Alameda Newspaper Group (which includes the Oakland Tribune) and the Contra Costa Times, will be reducing staff in its NoCal operations.

The company's flagship paper, The Denver Post, cut staff via buyouts and layoffs last month. Accoding to a memo from the publisher, initial reductions will come through attrition, but the clear implication is that layoffs are likely.

Having weighed in on happenings over at the Chron, we find ourself wondering what certain Bay Area-based media experts will have to say about this.
