If there's anybody in the city taking more heat than Mike Nolan, it's his quarterback, Alex Smith. Smith stands accused by the Faithful of not very being good. The evidence? Overthrowing Receivers. Underthrowing Receivers. Not seeing open Receivers. The numbers back up the evidence-- he has a preposterously low QB rating (57.2) and completion percentage (48.7). He is also 11-19 as a starting QB. In the games we've watched, Smith looked like the same QB he was when he first started-- skittish and inaccurate-- so much so, the Faithful are muttering that Smith, as a #1 draft pick, has been a bust of Lucy Pinder-like proportions (sort of NSFW-y).

With negotiations still going nowhere between JaMarcus Russell and the Raiders and the season about to begin, SFist brings you the Top 10 Things JaMarcus Russell Will be Doing this Weekend:

_Football_NYFF109300x312.jpg" width="240" height="250" image class="imgright"/>With the pre-season in full force (for what it's worth, the Silver and Black are 1-1), #1 draft pick JaMarcus Russell is still at home, hanging with his homies. As of right here, right now, JaMarcus hasn't put his name to paper. So, what up?

The Raiders have a new QB, at least for the moment. That QB is Daunte Culpepper, Randy Moss' ex-ball chucker. He had a little tryout for the team yesterday and it went so well, he was signed. Which is one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is that a deep connection was made between two desperate entities as Culpepper came in overweight and was said to be "spotty" with his passes. Culpepper is a pretty good fit as current Raiders QBs Josh McNown or Andrew Walter kinda suck. He's expected to keep the chair warm until first round draft pick JaMarcus Russell is ready to go.

Now here's some more interesting news that came out of yesterday's draft-- Randy Moss has been traded to the Patriots. For a measly fourth round draft pick. The team then traded one of their fourth round picks to the Lions for Josh McNown and WR Mike Williams, both of whom can be described by the phrase "whatever."

-Both Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell are hanging at the NFL Combine, something that will make Raiders fans perk up their ears. We don't know what's more overrated, the Combine or Brady Quinn. Anyways, it appears that JaMarcus is b-i-g. But is that a good thing or a bad thing?

So the Chron has added yet another blog to their arsenal, the originally named Sports Columnist Blog. So with all these blogs going on, who's going to be left to, you know, actually write in the paper?

-The Sharkies lost to the Dallas Stars, 4-3. It's the second consecutive loss against the Stars this week and who does the NHL scheduling anyways? It's also the Sharks third consecutive home loss. Their main culprit? Lousy power plays. So, does all this mean the Sharks need to bring in some more veteran guys?
