Two teenage girls were arrested earlier this week after allegedly drugging one of the girl's parents. Why? Because they wanted to use the wonderful world wide web well after their 10 p.m. curfew.

See, on the night of December 28 in Rocklin, CA, the parents fell right to sleep an hour after drinking delicious milkshakes their 16-year-old daughter and her 15-year-old friend purchased for them at a fast food joint. According to police, the parents "woke up in the middle of the night feeling 'really groggy' with 'hangover symptoms,'" even though they had not been drinking. When they woke up again the next day with that same achey feeling, they knew something was wrong and bought a $5 drug kit.

LA Times has more:

Investigators later learned the girls crushed prescription sleeping pills and put them in the milkshakes so the parents would fall asleep and they could use the Internet past the 10 p.m. curfew.

"Mom and Dad had the Internet cut off nightly at 10 p.m.," [Rocklin police Lt. Lon Milka] said. "The daughter wanted to use it past 10 because I guess they're like most teenagers and the Internet is their life."

The parents didn't end up drinking all of the milkshakes because it was "kind of gritty" and "really funny tasting," Milka said.

The girls, whose names cannot be released due to their ages, were promptly arrested and booked on December 31 in Placer County Juvenile Hall "on suspicion of conspiracy and willfully mingling a pharmaceutical into food."

Kids these days: sanity-estranged.

Girls' Christopher Owens Says He's Leaving The Band

"Dear all, This may come as a surprise to many…I am leaving Girls.
Christopher Owens, the lead singer and songwriter for the Bay Area's own Girls is leaving the band. A few minutes ago Owens tweeted a three-part message that read in part, "Dear all, This may come as a surprise to many…I am leaving Girls. My reasons at this time are personal. I need to do this in order to progress. I will continue to write & record music. More will be announced soon. I thank you all for everything."

According to the band's other half, bassist and songerwriter Chet "JR" White, everything was peachy last fall. "Personally, the band gets along well—they're all the best people we've had in the band so far," he told Seattle Weekly. "[The tour] couldn't be any better, really." So far, White hasn't responded to Owens' announcement via the band's Twitter account, which he runs.

The search for 15-year-old Sierra Lamar, a sophomore at Sobrato High School, continues today. Lamar was last seen on Friday "when she left her home near the intersection of Dougherty and Palm avenues, west of Monterey Highway, according to sheriff's officials. Sierra did not show up for school and was reported missing when she did not come home."

Authorities believed she might have been kidnapped, as opposed to running away, since her smartphone was found on Saturday "about three-quarters of a mile from her house." Info on the computer could've been helpful to the case.

Also, even though the Sheriff's Office confirmed that Sierra's father, Steve Wayne Lamar, of Fremont, is a registered sex offender, he is not a person of interest. Mercury News goes on to report that Lamar has "been fully cooperative since the beginning of the investigation."

Serra is 5-foot-2, "with a thin build, olive complexion and long dark hair," and last seen carrying a purse with "a black-and-pink design with the brand name, 'Juicy,' written on it."

Anyone with information about Sierra or her whereabouts is urged to call Santa Clara County Communications at 408-299-2311. During business hours, tipsters can call sheriff's investigators at 408-808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at 408-808-4431.

In honor of Whitney Houston, San Francisco-based band Girls performed their rendition of "I Will Always Love You," Houston's famous cover originally written and performed by Dolly Parton. The duo performed it at Singapore's Laneway Festival hours after Houston passed away on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton.

Year after year, The Princess Project has been equipping hundreds of California teens with lovely prom dresses and accessories for free.

The Princess Project has been having dress giveaways during the month of March, and the last one is this Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 901 Market Street. All high school girls who are in financial need are encouraged to attend. No proof is required, just a valid high school ID.

Be sure to get there early! Girls start lining up at 7a.m.

As summer approaches, so do the days we send the young 'uns up to the wilderness to learn how to make fire with sticks or melt marshmallows for 'smores. Some campers, however, prefer to learn survival skills for a more urban sort of wilderness - the boy-dominated world of independent music.

The Bay Area Girls Rock Camp is busy tying up the premiere season of its Girls Rock After School Program and getting ready for its second-ever youth summer camp, plus a new weekend workshop for wannabe rockers who are fresh out of high school.

What does this mean to you? It means that they're looking for volunteers: music instructors, grant writers, and street-teamers — as well as donations of cash, instruments, and other music gear. The nonprofit's wish list includes items as big as a permanent space with practice rooms and an office, as well as shows and benefit events for Rock Camp. But you can also help them out with donations as small as a button maker and button-making supplies or books, CDs, zines, and comics relevant to grrls wanting to dominate the worlds of hip-hop, punk, country, or blues.
