Typically held on the last weekend in September, milquetoast sex and fetish fete Folsom Street Fair will move its date for the first time in 20 years. Next year's butt blowout will take place on Sunday, September 23. Why? Well, according to queer publication The Bay Area Reporter, it's because of Oracle OpenWorld. "Organizers opted to move the festival, which draws hundreds of thousands of people each year, to avoid a scheduling conflict with Oracle OpenWorld, which will run September 30 through October 4."

Larry Eillson (of Oracle and America's Cup fame) and Oracle OpenWorld run the city now, more or less, so it makes sense that Folsom Street Fair turned dirty pig bottom for the dom tech giant top. Demetri Moshoyannis, executive director of Folsom Street Events, explained to the BAR: "We were told only weeks after this year's fair that nearly the entire inventory of hotel rooms for the city had been sold out for the last weekend of September 2012. So, we were faced with a decision: either move the 2012 fair date and risk upsetting some people who had booked way in advance or not move the fair date, knowing that tens of thousands of visitors would be unable to book rooms at all."

Japan Center Anime Fair, From Sailor Moon to Hatsune Miku: Japantown plays host to some "Anime fun" on Sunday, featuring singing, dancing, a 'Peoples Choice' Cosplay Contest, live drawing, and performances by Virtual Idol Mari Watanabe, Sentai Hero Barrie Evans, Singer Yukie Dong and K-on Doncing Kara’s Mister.

ArtSpan Open Studios: The third weekend of ArtSpan SF's Open Studios will take place in the Tenderloin, SOMA, Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, and Bayview neighborhoods, featuring the work of over 200 artists. For those attending the event on Saturday, take the shuttle!

If we had any ounce of adventurousness in us on this rainy morning, we'd be on the road to Half Moon Bay for the 38th Annual Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off, which we just read about on FunCheapSF.

The current world record for heaviest pumpkin to beat is 1,810.5 pounds, which was set last year at a GPC Weigh-Off in Stillwater, Minnesota. The top local pumpkins from the past two years weighed in at 1,535 pounds in 2010 and 1,658 pounds in 2009.

Bay City News calculates that "[t]he biggest pumpkin will fetch a prize of $6 per pound--possibly over $10,000 -- and prizes will be awarded for second through 10th place."

Those wishing to witness the champion mega-pumpkin and the five championship runner-ups in person can check them out at Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival next weekend. You can even get your photo taken alongside the giant gourd.

Members of the Santa Rosa SWAT team were at the South Park Day and Night Festival on Saturday. They were there to demonstrate to attendees what they do and, most notably, to show off their big weaponry. Many participants, it seems, were furious over the fact that they allowed children to hold their guns. Some as young as 5.

Press Democrat reports:

Photos taken at the event show a Santa Rosa police officer talking with a group of youths as a young boy holds a fully-automatic assault rifle while looking through its sniper scope. Another shows a boy perhaps as young as 5 years old grabbing the grip of a riot gun on a table covered with gear beside the city's SWAT command vehicle.

After photos circulated among "concerned citizens," local politicians predictably loudly erupted over the small brouhaha. Santa Rosa City Councilwoman Marsha Vas Dupre said she was “alarmed and devastated” by the display, questioning the judgement of local law enforcement.

Attila Nagy, the sharp shooter who snapped the controversial photos, showed much concerned, saying: "What are young people learning from this? ... No matter how you justify it, no matter how you twist it, it's the promotion of violence."

Police and festival organizers defended the display, which featured a fully-automatic rifle, "and interaction with children as a proper outreach to the community, in line with other efforts to reach out to the people the department serves." notes CBS SF.

Police Chief Tom Schwedhelm countered the anti-gun sentiment, saying, "We encourage our cops to get out of the car and interact with the community...Whether you like it or not, our police have guns."

Women's World Cup Screening at Civic Center: After the huge success that was met with SF Rec and Park's live broadcasts of the Men's World Cup last year, they're screening the Women's World Cup quarterfinal matches on Saturday, followed by the semifinals next Wednesday, and the final match on Sunday, July 17. There will also be activities for kids, including mini-soccer games, giant inflatables, and soccer skills challenges. And Off-the Grid trucks will be there, too.

Renegade Craft Fair: The DIY extravaganza is back in SF, featuring a number of interactive workshops, including The Museum of Craft and Design's MakeArt station, where attendees can create their own miniature accordion-style journals and the Accessorize With Small Toys booth in which visitors can learn to make art and accessories from repurposed toys, plus much more!

AfroCubism and Pellejo Seco at Stern Grove: AfroCubism, which is a celebration of the commonalities between the two disparate cultures of Mali and Cuba, brings their world jams and danceable rhythms to Stern Grove on Sunday, along with the salsa-infused sound of local Cuban group Pellejo Seco.

Neko Case and The Dodos, Stern Grove Festival: It truly is Indie-pendence Day at Stern Grove on Sunday. Indie goddess Neko Case will abide with her one-of-a-kind voice and country/soul/rock-influenced sound, along with local folk-rock gems, the Dodos. Stern Grove is sure to be even more packed than usual. Get there early and camp out.

Fillmore Jazz Festival: Do some power-walking, -eating, and -grooving all weekend at the huge Fillmore Jazz Festival, which spans over a mile of Fillmore Street, from Eddy to Jackson.

SF Mime Troupe: No, they're not mimes! They have a lot to say, and they're witty. SF Mime Troupe opens their 52nd season this weekend with the premiere of 2012 - The Musical!, which sounds like it might be a bit autobiographical with plenty of tongue-in-cheekiness.

LaborFest 2011: The 18th annual labor cultural arts festival, LaborFest 2011, which commemorates a number of landmark events in civil rights history, features a Film Works United Festival, theatrical and musical performances, its annual BookFair, and labor history cultural walks and presentations showcasing reports and videos from contributors from around the world.

Hot Dog Drawing Contest: Head over to Frankenart Mart on Sunday and try your hand at a wiener sketch, which could be immortalized on a removable tattoo. Also check out Frankenart Mart's Gallery for some Space Station-themed work, including a Pegacorn (a bag of delicious wings and horns), cat-hair bracelets, and free veggie and beef hot dogs.

Stern Grove Festival: Classic R&Bers Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings kick off the 74th season of the Stern Grove Festival on Sunday with a Motown sound revival, along with special guest, French soul crooner, Ben L'Oncle Soul. Bring a picnic and get there early! It's bound to be packed.

Bicycle Music Festival: Pedal over to Golden Gate Park on Saturday for a day- and night-long 100-percent bicycle-powered festival featuring a diverse range of musical genres, including jazz, opera, folk rock, Latin rock, hip hop, Bhangra rock, and more. Also featuring pedal-powered smoothies!

Juneteenth Parade and Festival: The two-day long 61st Annual Juneteenth Festival takes over the Fillmore District with live entertainment, food, a Classic Car and Motorcycle show, Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, 3 on 3 Basketball, Skate park, Games2u, and more. Sunday morning's parade starts at Civic Center Plaza.

Bring Your Own Dog: Footloose Productions presents a family and dog-friendly event featuring live performances, contests, games and socializing with dogs and their people at Mint Plaza on Saturday. The live show, which is hosted by celebrity drag queen Heklina, brings theater, music, dance, and comedy to the urban stage in a performance about an alien who "needs to program his robotic dog crew so they can bring joy to his homeland."

North Beach Festival: Lots of sun, beer, and drinking will take place all weekend in North Beach, along with bands, poetry readings, food, arts and crafts, and did we mention beer?

Native Contemporary Arts Festival: Spend Father's Day at Yerba Buena Gardens for this 14th annual event showcasing traditional and contemporary Native American music and dance, including Washington-based virtuoso violinist/storyteller Swil Kanim, traditional Su-Nu-Nu Shinal Pomo Dancers (Stewarts Point); hoop dancer Eddie Madril (Yaqui); hip-hop artist Ras K’Dee & Audiopharmacy; Chicanindia dancer Gina Pacaldo; and The All Nations Singers and Medicine Warrior Dancers, plus free craft activities for the kiddies. Picnics welcome.

Picklewater Free Circus Festival: Mingle with the tourists at Union Square on Sunday, featuring performances by clowns, jugglers, and contortionists from Circus Bella, Circus Finelli, Pi, and The Physical Comedy Troupe, which promise to be "filled with danger, excitement, laughter and awe." Free circus lessons will also be provided.

All Weekend: The Frozen Film Festival is happening Friday and Saturday night. The month-long LaborFest kicks off this weekend with a slew of activities. SF Mime Troupe debuts Posibilidad, or Death of the Worker, at Dolores Park Saturday through Monday. The Fillmore Jazz Festival heats things up Saturday and Sunday. Speaking of heat, the International Queer Tango Festival is at La Pista.

Saturday: The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival presents two performances each of Balamcoatl: Mesoamerican Music & Dance and Circus Bella. Lower Haters is having a Mini-Fair on Saturday.

Here are some events for you to enjoy during the mild weather this weekend.

All Weekend: The 60th Annual San Francisco Juneteenth Festival, the largest gathering of African-Americans in North America, will be at Civic Center. The Urban Eats edition of the ongoing Giants County Fair is happening on Saturday night and during the day on Sunday. The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival presents Balamcoatl: Mesoamerican Music & Dance on Saturday and the 19th Annual Native Contemporary Arts Festival on Sunday.

Saturday: Arts, crafts, food, entertainment, adult beverages, and family fun will be had at the 56th Annual North Beach Festival. Mission Community Block Party will help fund the future Mission Community Market. Enjoy sailing, cruising, racing, windsurfing, and onshore entertainment at the Summer Sailstice Festival.

Sunday: The Stern Grove Festival kicks off with Grammy-winning artist Angélique Kidjo. The Mission will be taken over by Sunday Streets -- be sure to check out Rock the Bike as part of the ongoing Soundwave Festival while you're there. And last but not least -- Cardboard Tube Fighting!

Not watching the World Cup this weekend? Don't worry, there's lots more for you to do.

Going on all weekend are the Giants County Fair, the 34th annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival at Presidio Middle School, the 4th Annual BattleUS freestyle skating event at Golden Gate Park, and the ongoing San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival at Palace of Fine Arts.

On Saturday, as SFist previously mentioned, Yerba Buena Gardens will be having Art in the Gardens, not to mention their weekly live music festival, featuring kids' fave, Unique Derique, followed by cuban jazz band, Los Terrys. It's Family Day with the 49ers. Those who want to stay out of the sun should check out Lightbox Works' Crafty Hour at the Make-Out Room. GLBTers can freshen up their ass-kicking skills at Kick Ass Queers in Dolores Park. Celebrate King Kamehameha Day with Hawaiian music and tall ships at Aquatic Park.
