Gary Danko took an early lead, and there was significant commenter support for NoPa, which had been left off the list. But chef Roland Passot's Chronicle four-star, local favorite zoomed ahead of the competition, winning the poll with 296 votes, which is 100 more votes than second place Coi, and 150 more than third-place winner Delfina.

Anyway, as we said, polls can be skewed by all kinds of factors, but we are more satisfied with these results than what the SF Weekly reader poll came up with -- restaurant-wise anyway.

Whether it be his readers or the wait staff at Bar Bambino, Eater editor extraordinaire, Paolo Lucchesi, can get almost anyone whipped up into a frothy frenzy. Take, for example, the very innocent post he posted up yesterday, linking to Lauren Smiley's feature article on Yelp in this week's SF Weekly. The article, more or less, is about how business owners strive to keep Yelpers happy in order to get good reviews. (Great job, Lauren!) But the real meat here is Eater mentioning the "Yelp elite" via a quote from said article, which prompted the comments section to explode.

What's the dust-up all about? We can't say for sure, exactly. But any comment thread boasting such terms as "you losers are so jealous of yelp," "douchebags," "leeches," and "AIDS-ridden cock" is well worth your time. Check it out.
