According to 2010-2013 U.S. Census data compiled by local real estate firm Paragon, (you may have seen their signs in front of some expensive houses for sale) the zip code with the highest median income in San Francisco is 94105, which encompasses parts of SoMa including Yerba Buena and South Beach.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 94105 ranked last for average household size, meaning there are a lot of high-paid childless people living in SoMa these days. St. Francis Wood/Miraloma in the 94127 had the second highest median income, followed by the Presidio at number three.

While the real estate firm was digging into the census data, they also sorted the zip codes by median age, only to discover the median age on Treasure Island is a mere 28 years old. The 94111 zip code along the city's Northern Waterfront and a sliver of Telegraph Hill, meanwhile, was practically ancient with the highest median age of 50 years old.

Here's a heartwarming statistic dredged up from Facebook's data mines: San Franciscans are the least likely people in the country to commit to a relationship. (Or commit to updating their relationship status, at least.)

The information comes from the company's own Valentine's Day trends report, which looked at the percentage of single people in the top 50 cities in the country and the rate at which people pair off. Apparently if you wanted to settle down, you should have moved to Colorado Springs, which has the lowest percentage of single people and the highest rate of "relationship formation" in the country. We can only assume this has something to do with keeping warm in those Rocky Mountain winters.

Closer to home though, Facebook analyzed check-ins at local businesses to determine which ones get busier in the week before Valentine's Day. Topping the list is noted Marina bar Stock & Trade, where local straight ladies will probably have an easy pick from the San Francisco sausagefest. The report also confirmed what any single person in town already knows: that the city has the highest ratio of single males to single females.

On Thursday, two concerned Facebook users filed a lawsuit against the social media mammoth, alleging they violated users' privacy by scanning individual members' private messages in order to gather data to use for profit. The lawsuit, filed by Matthew Campbell and Michael Hurley in Northern District Court of California, accuses Facebook of violating the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and is seeking class action status.

Citing a report from a Swiss security firm called High-Tech Bridge, the suit claims your private messages on Facebook are being intercepted by the company and scanned for links that Facebook can use to create a profile you and your not-so-private messaging buddy, which they can then use to target ads to your account.

"Representing to users that the content of Facebook messages is 'private' creates an especially profitable opportunity for Facebook," the complaint reads, "because users who believe they are communicating on a service free from surveillance are likely to reveal facts about themselves that they would not reveal had they known the content was being monitored."

The suit has been brought on behalf of all Facebook members in the United States who have sent or received private messages with links in them. It seeks to stop the practice as well as recoup damages to the tune of $100 per user, per day that Facebook was in violation of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

A Facebook spokesperson (or "flack hacker," if you like) has fired back, telling CNET that the allegations are "without merit and we will defend ourselves vigorously." Everyone else, meanwhile, just got chills remembering that time Mark Zuckerberg told everyone they shouldn't be doing private things on Facebook anyway.

It's all relative, as the saying goes, and it's never been truer than with today's announcement that San Francisco has been crowned the "most bike-friendly city" in the nation. Or, as it could be called, the "most non-shitty" place to ride a bike around town.

The finding are based on data collected from the Alliance for Biking and Walking, and compiled by Statista, which found that, with 5.6 miles of dedicated bike lanes, multi-use bike paths and signed bike routes per square mile (263 miles in total), we've got the best biking infrastructure in the country.

Not taken into consideration? The cycling accidents and fatalities that have plagued the City in recent months; although it remains unclear how the City's bike accidents per capita stack up against the other cities listed in the top ten, which include Austin, Long Beach, and Philadelphia (Portland, a longtime West Coast rival for urban bikeability, is noticeably absent from the list).

Which makes us wonder: Statistically speaking, San Francisco may be the most bike-friendly city in the nation, but what does it feel like? Ladies and gentleman, to better understand your deep-seated emotions about the issue, we present a rare SFist poll. Fire away, citizens.

Want to see to what certain SF public officials are landing a year? Of course you do. Business Insider came across a handy chart (based on this database) that lists the yearly salaries of public servants. the info is from a couple of years ago -- thus: yes, it's old news -- but since we cannot digest any info that isn't crafted into easy-to-read cells, we assume the same goes for you, readers.

A few things to note:

SFFD Captain Edward Arce makes nearly $20,000 more a year than Joanne Hayes-White.

SFMTA executive director Nat Ford is making $300k+ a year. Of course.

There are three cops making more than habitual police chief Heather Fong. Why? (Besides the obvious, that is.)

These numbers are from the 2007 calendar year. The data was provided by the City of San Francisco's Controller's Office, which includes regular pay, overtime and "other pay," i..e., "compensation for special working conditions or one-time pay-outs of unused vacation and sick leave to employees leaving the city."

How can we land over $200K worth of overtime, Christian Kitchen?

More cuts can be made, Arnold.

This also marks a pretty steep fall from the peak median price of July 2007 which was $665,000.

Median price figures are not the clearest indicators, though, because they only reflect on properties currently on the market to be sold. In shitty markets like this one, owners in high-end properties tend not to sell, thereby skewing median prices down due to unusually low numbers of sales at the high end. This is coupled with averaging in the worst market in the region, Solano County, where a rock bottom median of $180,000 is causing an uptick in sales, with people scooping up low-priced homes fast, often as investment properties. The median price in San Francisco is still $628,500, down 16% over last year. If you're done with your pagan tree-worship holiday, head on over to MeTransCo's 511 Survey, and let them know just how bad they suck. 'Tis the season! You could win an iPod, as if you didn't already have four or five of them already.

The MTC is interested in how people use their services (if at all) -- for example, which of 511's many sites do you use most often? Or were you, like us, totally unaware that 511 even HAS multiple sites? Apparently they consider bicycling.511.org to be totally different from transit.511.org. Because nobody EVER mixes multiple forms of transit! That's like transportation-miscegenation! Which would be an awesome name for a Schoolhouse Rock song.

Anyway, go give 'em a piece of your mind. Let them know what you think of their worse-than-Duluth trip planner, and their circa-1995 mapping tech. And also how they STILL don't use Nextbus info. And how's about that navigation! No sir, not confusing at all. The holidays are a stressful time, and this is a great chance to let off some steam.
