Come one, come all to the KnockOut for "Broken presents: Silent Night, Deadly Night," a free, Post-Christmas dance party mixing the best of old-school goth, industrial, new wave, and indie. Think of how many fares they must've collected! Or would have, if they weren't sending out broken fare boxes along one of the busiest routes of the day. Whoops. Bus 5528 was a free ride for anyone lucky enough to catch it; and out guess is that lots of folks got lucky at Muni's expense.

Why is Muni always complaining about not having money -- and yet when you're ready to give it to them, they act like they don't want it? It's like a hobo eating out of a trash can, sneering, "I don't need your ."

After the jump: more complaining!
charity

California Street Cable Cars Out Of Order Today

While crews repair a damaged cable, California Street cable cars will be down for the count today, but could return to service by early ...

misc

Alan Siegel

As

broken

cable car

California

California Street

kids

muni

repair

Rice

running

sf

Transit

Brock Keeling

While crews repair a damaged cable, California Street cable cars will be down for the count today, but could return to service by early tomorrow. Sad, isn't it?

According to Muni spokesman Alan Siegel, "[t]he cable runs continuously (up and down the line), so we have to find the one section of the cable that's damaged ... we have to run (the cable) slowly until that section gets into the car barn." [via SFGate]

But fear not, California Street cable car riders. Those wacky kids over at the transit agency will run buses on the California Street line to help you get home. Speaking of which, do any SF residents actually still use the cable cars to get to and from work or school or wherever? As opposed to riding them for that wistful Rice-A-Roni feel?

Oh, and the other car lines are running just fine.
