Oh, Berkeley law professor and torture-sanctioner John Yoo's not going to be happy about this (or maybe he will be!) -- Cal has tentatively agreed to accept a controversial collection of paintings by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, based on the Abu Ghraib photographs that repulsed the world.

-- Scott McCloud: Experimental and wildly popular comic artist and novelist (Making Comics) speaks tonight at "Evolution of the American Comic Book". Rory Root (owner, Comic Relief) and Andrew Farago (curator, Cartoon Art Museum) also speak. Starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Commonwealth Club, 595 Market; $7-$20.

. Plays start at 9:30, have a lunch break, and start again at 3 and go probably until 9 or so? The performance, at the Project Artaud Theater (450 Florida, x 17th and Mariposa) is free and probably oversubscribed, but you should stop by and see if you can get yourself in.

The Asian Art Museum's monthly throwdown, Matcha, kicks off around 6pm with DJs, tours, workshops and cocktails. The Live Action Cartoonists, a performance troupe that combines comics and theatre, will perform highlights from Science (Fiction) an experimental production that re-interprets Tezuka Osamu’s Astro Boy. 200 Larkin St., SF.

Everyone knows the Saturday of Pride Weekend is the Dyke March! Put on your motorcycle helmet and take off your top. The theme this year (for the 15th anniversary) is "Healthcare for All," so there's going to be a mammogram truck on site, as well as the usual diverse array of religions, performers, and peoples. The rally and stage show starts at 3 at Dolores Park; the women go marching at 7.

If you still haven't checked out any of the awesome exhibits at the Asian Art Museum, swing by around 5 for Matcha, their monthly mixer with live performances, gallery tours, drinks and more. DJ Tonk, a top Japanese hip-hop producer will be spinning till 9pm. $5 after 5pm, 200 Larkin St., SF.

Comics 4 Comix: Have you ever been to the Cartoon Art Museum? Neither have we. Head there tonight for a great cause. An overlooked gem in San Francisco, the Cartoon Art Museum is having its annual fundraiser and silent art auction, starting tonight at 7 pm. Come bid on original comic strip art from both local and national cartoonists, including including Dan Piraro (Bizarro), Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows), Phil Frank (Farley), Lalo Alcaraz (La Cucaracha), and Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse). On the stage will be a slew of stand-up comics, including Michael Meehan and Kurt Weitzman. Thirsty Bear and True Sake provide the libations and Rainbow, Whole Foods, and Canton Dim Sum are among the suppliers of snacks. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds go to the museum. Speaking of august institutions delving into contemporary edginess, the SF Asian Art Museum (200 Larkin, Samsung Hall) presents a butoh & immersive video performance by blindsight Artistic Director/Choreographer Paige Starling Sorvillo in collaboration with Los Angeles-based media artist lucy h g and UK-based Australian composer duo imaginationandmymother.  Their integrated media performance presents a striking visual meditation on remote-access war and our daily complicity in the violence of globalism.
