An Amber Alert was issued late this morning for two young sisters "believed to have been taken from their home by their mother, who may be suicidal," according to the Gate. Here are the details: The girls, 7-year-old Rayna Ramussen and her 4-year-old sister, Lindsey, were taken about 7 a.m. today by their mother, Rachel Lynn Rasmussen, 38, from their home on Trembath Lane in Antioch, said Jimmy Lee, spokesman for the Contra Costa......

Eight-months-pregnant Enja Moore is on the loose with her six kids after stealing them from the "father's San Leandro home late Tuesday night." Swiping the father's Mazda MPV minivan in the process, Moore and her children - ages 1, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 - are presumably still in the Bay Area. Oh, and the three-year-old kid, we're told, needs insulin shots regularly, so if you've seen Moore (California license plate No. 5XOL029), do......

An Amber Alert just broke in on the talking picture box. A presumably unfit father who "has a known drug history and is known to frequent the Oakland area" took off with his son today, claiming that he was taking him to McDonald's, but never returned. According to ABC 7, "Harold Bennett left his home with his child Justin Nottingham...Bennett is about 5'9, 245 pounds, has brown eyes and a bald haircut. Justin Nottingham is......

Hope you're having a bad-luck-free Friday the 13th out there, folks! Here's the ominous items we found on a casual search of San Francisco news sites. --Weird screwup on the highways today -- due to a software glitch, eleven Bay Area road signs were flashing the message "two lanes closed for construction," when in fact all the relevant lanes were open. At least it wasn't flashing an Amber Alert with your car's license plate number,......

You know how everyone says San Francisco is a little bubble utopia isolated from the realities of the rest of the world? Well, you might as well embrace it this Labor Day, because the eastbound Bay Bridge is closed all weekend. Yes yes, you probably already know, since Caltrans has commissioned every single flashing road sign in the entire state to remind you for the last two weeks. We feel badly for any Amber Alert......

With the inmates running the asylum known as the 109th Congress, it's always great to know that we here in California, the Blue-ish of the Blue states, have representatives to act as a bulwark against the insanity. Case in point, what some people call an "annual rite of spring"-- the proffering of a resolution making flag burning unconstitutional. Thankfully, our elected representatives are standing firm and fighting this nonsense, people like Sen. Barbara Boxer and......
