I watched a bike accident occur in front of my eyes today around 2:50 PM. And although it took no more than a couple of seconds, it was one of those things you knew was going to happen.
Guy on a bike was riding south down the sidewalk of 6th St. at Folsom, turned around and yelling back to someone. He was eating a piece of chicken at the time. He rolled into the crosswalk on purpose...as far as I could tell he neither looked at or cared what the signal had to say. He almost made it across but he was hit in the curb lane by a Land Rover going about 30 or 40 MPH. I watched him go up over the hood, up the windshield and into the air. Then he disappeared beside the car. It was sickening. The next thing I saw was the cyclist up and running for the sidewalk. He was OK??? Yep, no helmet, no nothing and he was able to move. Then he started doing a lot of yelling. And there were about 6 people on cell phones all calling 9-1-1.
I was on my bike during all this. It made for a very cautious ride the rest of the day. As I rounded the corner onto Folsom and around the Rover I noticed the chicken leg didn't survive.

Kinda old news, the place closed at the end of May... but isnt that rent exorbitant? It will be replaced by yet another Mexican restaurant. On 24th St., between South Van Ness and Folson, there are 4 mexican restaurants, Chavas #2, El Tonayense, Taqueria Guadalajara, and the new place replacing the Thai joint.

Interesting tip from MTC and Translink on my blog comment section:
"I work with MTC on TransLink and saw your Talk post on Yelp. Muni and Caltrain should be ready relatively soon (I am not going to give out the (un)official revenue-ready date)."

I liked Sarah and No Name. They had a funny banter together. I'm sad to see it change. I hope it's not going to be like a "Lifestyle Chanel" for radio...yuk!

Why is my morning bus filled with tons young dancer kids with huge bags?
I ride the 21-Hayes, and it's now almost always filled with kids going to come camp during morning and afternoon commute. At Baker in the AM, the bus is almost always full around 8AM, and before these dancers started riding we used to be able to add riders on until about Divis and then again at Fillmore. (Totally separate is the issue of why the buses get too full once we hit the lower income areas and can't pick up the people that actually need to get to work...)
Now the 21 is packed to the gills by Broderick and drives by all the local, tax-paying commuters. The kids said they're at some dance school down off of Market called Lines. They apparently have student bus passes, and they all group together as their "classes" and ride together. But 20+ additional kids at morning and afternoon commute is just insane. I moved from the 5 to the 21 when the San Francisco Ballet kids (who tend to have nicer bus manners...) started riding it, and now I feel like I'm being pushed even farther south or need to drive to guarantee that I can get on a bus and get to work on time. Any thoughts?

The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city's long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.
Edwin Ramos, now 21, is being held on three counts of murder in the June 22 deaths of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. They were shot near their home in the Excelsior district when Tony Bologna, driving home from a family picnic, briefly blocked the gunman's car from completing a left turn down a narrow street, police say.
