Last night around 10:20 p.m. a 15-year-old boy shot a 25-year-old man in the leg after a verbal argument got out of hand near Hallidie Plaza at Fifth and Market Streets. A BART police officer who was below the plaza at Powell Street Station caught reports of the shooting on his radio and spotted the boy fleeing the scene.

The officer managed to nab the teen, who was found to be carry a handgun. The victim, meanwhile, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds not considered life threatening.

Police have not revealed what the argument was about, as the victim is, alas, apparently not cooperating with police. The suspect's name is not being released because he is a juvenile.
