What's Ed Jew doing today, now that he's been excused from jury duty? This has got to be the first time anyone's been trying to get San Francisco jury duty, ever.
--The Chron's got the news on the City Attorney's quo warranto petition. Among the tidbits revealed: Ed Jew's wife has been taking a deduction on the Burlingame house as her primary residency for San Mateo County tax purposes -- and, hey, remember how Jew said the reason why no one saw him in the Sunset is because he left for his daily shower at the flower shop early in the morning? Well, it turns out Jew's next-door neighbor (.pdf) wakes up around 5-6 a.m. every day and has never seen anyone at Ed's house. Hey neighbor, if you're up, do you mind getting all those free papers littering Ed's driveway?
--Ken Garcia at the Examiner's been asking around too -- he brushes aside rumors that Jew was growing pot at the Sunset house but does report that he talked to a woman who sold a furnace to Jew earlier this year and said Jew was very open about not living in San Francisco. "I never thought anything about it except he had a weird name, until I read about him in the newspaper," she said.
--And we're busy reading the extremely-thorough papers and declarations filed by the City Attorney on Jew's residency. Late-night dog-walkers, eager would-be renters, folks who remembered the shooting at the tenants a few years back... and who knew Green Party State Assembly candidate Barry Hermanson (.pdf) lived on that block of 28th Avenue too? (most links in this paragraph .pdfs.)

i can't wait for the irs and ftb to announce he's being audited for lying about his residence and probably about all his rental income and profits on flipping properties. this story is far from over kids.
ed, please go back to the republican party where you belong!
;)
ha! The woman that tried to sell Ed Jew the furnance noted that he kept trying to get a better deal and had a weird name... I'll let you fill in the dots here, people...
It is amazing how Ed seemed to think that the rules were "no big deal" and that he could just somehow BS his way out with junkie logic if he ever got caught.
Good thing we didn't have a runoff election where such issues might have received this level of scrutiny. Then we might have had poor Ed lose an election because of his foibles, instead of being prosecuted by the City and the Feds.
oh well...
can any of you district 4 folks confirm the rumors that jew' campaign spread about chan not living in the district?
guess we know where he got the idea now
Mr Jew need's to resign!!!
His problem are many and he's wasting way to must of the city's time!!!!
Ed in the best interest of the city RESIGN
Matt Smith wrote about this in SF Weekly, You can read it here, if you can stand his right-wing drivel:
www.sfweekly.com/2006-10-18/news/dirty-laundry/
Apparently, it wasn't Ed Jew who said that Doug Chan doesn't live in the District. It was a supporter of Ed Jew.
@Paul Hogarth, Although the article does say that a Ed Jew supporter started the rumors, FWIW I have heard it from Mr Jew himself.
My favorite juicy tidbit is not from the City Attorney's documents, but from the D.A.'s office affidavit. It seems that Jew took and failed the written exam for a motorcycle license last year. Can you imagine?? The mental picture of the uptight Supe on a Harley is just too hysterical!
In his defense though, the DOT tells me that no one named Edmund has ever passed the motorcycle exam.
what address did he use on that motorcycle license exam?
;)
thanks for replies on the rumor
hi paul,
i read that drivel from matt smith back during the election. 50 bucks says that guy isn't properly licensed or trained to run that daycare business out of his house. you know how hard it is to get approval to run a licensed daycare facility in this town? not to mention the square footage and the outside play area you need.
no way!
He took the exam on or about Feb. 3, 2006, on the same day that he changed his driver's license to reflect a 28th Ave. residence. Of course, he now claims that he moved into the 28th Ave. place in July 2006.
What's wrong with Ed Jew's name? Why is it so strange?
-
Is anyone else suffering from Ed Jew fatigue? I get as excited as the next guy about political scandals, and Ed's farcical misadventures were pretty hilarious for the first couple of weeks. But now I'm just over it. The guy is such a lightweight.
My god, if there's anything worse than a corrupt politician, is it an arrogant and incompetent corrupt politician? There isn't even any intrigue left. It seems like the only real question remaining is "what the hell was he thinking?"
His name is strange for obvious reasons. Wouldn't it be funny if his name was Ed Atheist?
Plus it doesn't seem like Chinese spelling.
And, think about newspaper headlines...Jew Scandal. I know some of my family and friends wouldn't want that kind of association!
It's obvious The Jewster wants to drag this out as long as possible, as well as the Gavster. btw, love the Headline, Rita!
The only reason I think his name is funny is how SFist put things in perspective last November when he was elected ...
The new Supervisor from District 4 is Ed Jew (gesundheit!)
Of course, that only works if you say his name really fast.
Ed Jew's name can be blamed on some tin-eared immigration official back in the 19th or early 20th century who listened to the Chinese name and put down what he thought he heard. Other immigration officials listened to the same sound and put down "Chew", which is more accurate. Modern immigrants from Taiwan spell it as "Chiu", and those from the Mainland spell it as "Zhao" (because of the Soviet influence on their spelling).
does anyone know any past or present tenants of the jew family/trust? i'd love to keep this train wreck going by helping the irs and ftb go after him for under reporting all his rental income.
does anyone have the picture from the chronicle with Ed's employee preventing the news camera from showing his supposed shower stall in chinatown?
Just sing along, that old 1950s song with slightly changed lyrics:... "Ed sails in the Sunset"...
Suckafree,
Of COURSE T-Ed's flower shop employee put his hand up over the cameraperson's lens to prevent footage from being taken. Ed was in the shower at the time!
Hymie Moishe Abramowitz:
I got the joke.
"Strange Things"
1) How strange it is that someone set one of your dated SF rental houses on fire right before you wanted to sell it.
Could it be that the Insurance money really helped out on the brand new remodel?
2) How strange it is that when you could not get rid of the Homeless man squatting at the Portable Potty in front of that house, that someone also set the Portable Potty on fire to get rid of him.
3) How strange it is when someone shot 7 bullet holes into your house at 2450 28th Ave. in the Sunset District for no reason at all.
4) How strange it is that another one of your SF rental properties on Ocean Ave. was actually selling Marijuana illegally right out of the store. What was that store's name again? Was it "Ed's Herbal Healing?"
5) How strange it was when you wanted to shake down $40,000 from Quickly's owners for a "Donation" to Sunset playground, that the FBI showed up at your office.
6) By the way, wasn't it odd that the water bill at your house on 2450 28th Ave. at one time, ran up over $1,900? But that was when your tenant was living there.
7) It's weird how that water bill suddenly came down to zero when you are living there now.
8) Hey Ed, how did you, your wife and your brother managed to vote for you when they lived outside of the Sunset district?
The City Hall Records show that all of yall are registered at the house located at 2450 28th ave. SF but that was when your tenants were also living there.
Kinda strange how yall managed to fit so many people in that house. Especially when no water, gas, electricity, and garbage were ever used.
9) Finally, what a strange world we live in when, after all that's happened, Fed Ed can still go on television and tell the general public that he is the "Victim".
