SFist Today
Lotta stuff going on today, a lot of which we've mentioned before: Another Hole In The Head continues and the Black Film Festival gets started! Also, it's the Berkeley Edge Fest. Here's some other stuff too.
--Ha ha ha ha ha ha!! It's Critical Ass! There's a naked bike ride to protest overuse of fossil fuels. Noon, starting at Justin Herman Plaza. Don't forget the sunscreen.
--Well, this is an unfortunate segue: SF Recycling is giving away free compost for you gardeners from 8 a.m. to noon. Four locations: McLaren Park, at the city dump (401 Tunnel Rd.), behind the SF Zoo (Herbst Rd and Zoo Road), and the West Sunset Playground (40th and Quintara). Maybe the naked bikers'll make it out there.
--Stop by the Exploratorium for a talk about keeping zoo animals and pets mentally stimulated. There will be live animals! 1 p.m., 3601 Lyon Street (inside the Palace of Fine Arts), $14 gets you in the museum.
--It's Amoebapalooza at 12 Galaxies tonight! Your favorite Amoeba staffers play in their own bands, at 15 minutes apiece. $7, 8 p.m., 2565 Mission (x 23rd).
--Asian-American 'zine Hyphen hosts their Mr. Hyphen contest, to honor awesome local Asian-American males. $20, 7 p.m., at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center (388 Ninth Street Suite 290, x Franklin).
--Cape Verdean world music legend Cesaria Evora performs tonight at the Masonic Center for SFJAZZ. The cheapo tickets are $25. 8 p.m., California and Taylor.
--And, as part of the Queer Arts Fest, Micia Mosely is performing Where My Girls At, a funny solo piece about Black lesbian communities in the Bay Area. $8-15, 7 p.m., SomArts Theater (934 Brannan x 8th).
