The Examiner's on Bobagate! They've now found out Ed Jew, through his father, rents a building to a pot club, at 1545 Ocean. Hope those cannabis users have water.
Look at all these properties the Jew family owns too! 13 in San Francisco, 1 in Burlingame, and 4 in Arizona. Arizona? Is he running for supervisor there too?
In other property-related news, it turns out Tapioca Ed has also evicted an African immigrant couple's hot dog business from one of his buildings, over a weird subleasing transaction with a man who claimed to be Ed Jew's cousin. According to the couple, Jew was very distracted with the District 4 election at the time all this was happening and promised them everything was fine, but then evicted them at Christmas, about a month after the election. "He's a supervisor," said the wife. "He should stand up for me." Well, ma'am, do you own a bubble tea shop?

It's easy to see why Ed Jew would be attracted to the fiscal unaccountability of running a pot club.
"He's a supervisor," said the wife. "He should stand up for me."
uh, at this point, it looks like they should just be grateful he didn't shake them down for $40k too...
The best part of this is that, no matter what happens in the end (it's all a set-up! Ed was shaking people down and scamming right and left!), San Franciscans will legitimately be able say "stop Jewing me."
are you going to hire a new "jon" pr are you all just going to try and replace him segment by segment? Sfist-- your readers deserve an update

Probably this post should be transferred to another venue, as in "Tips," perhaps.
But to compound the mistake and to answer here: look in the left hand frame about half way down the page and you'll see this:
"About SFist

"Editors: Matt Baume and Jeremy

Hey, CRS -- Shhhhhhhh!
Hey "Name": So we announced that Jon was stepping down as the editor about a month ago. He's taking a little break from regular blogging for the moment, but has promised us he'll be back soon.
Jeremy and Matt are the current transition editors, and Gothamist is still in the process of reviewing applications for the job. I'm still toiling away as the editor at large, which is where you go when you're not hired away by the Chron to be their blogging editor!
nowhere in this, and nowhere in the examiner story, did anyone explain why it's so interesting that one of his properties happens to be a pot club. does that contradict his earlier stance on pot clubs? are pot clubs supposed to be political liabilities at this point? who cares?
An interesting part in the examiner piece is the statement: "They also have collaborated on a travel agency and have a history of trading ownership of the many properties in the family, according to city records." Apparently, this (tranfering properties/businesses among family members) is pretty common among certain groups to stay under the radar of the IRS and others.
The thick plotens! Barbara Meskunas (Ed's libertarian aide) never mentioned the drug biz when Ed fled. What if Ed never returns! Who will be supe?
Ed is playing fast and loose like a Washington Republican, but this is a small town, and things get around. He would know that if he lived here.
