Admit it, the weather has been outstanding. No one can claim our high-rentian bargain of getting spectacular September weather has not been delivered in full. The beaches, parks, trails and sidewalks are the place to be weekend after weekend this month. The Love Parade was lovely and the Folsom Street Fair was crotchless chapirific. Some nights has even been warm enough to remove the long sleeves and leave the windows open overnight while the mornings have been great for swimmers, surfers, runners and sleeper-inners.
What we want to point out is that even our traditional calendar summer was much more temperate than average. There's something about human societal relationship with the weather that causes people to complain as soon as the weather is as bad as normal or worse, though you almost never hear anyone say something like, "it's not as bad as it normally is." July, for example, had the fewest fog-enshrouding days we can remember. August was typical, with more cold foggy days than not, but nothing worse than typical.
Exceptions must be offered for our extreme coastal denizens (Yo Outer Sunset! What up Pacifica?) but city-wide the last three months has been a quarter we should really cherish, or at least not forget on the chance winter rains arrive in November or snow fall are below normal in the Sierras. We will say that'll all be a lot easier if October continues this Septembers' trend of great weather, but let's not be greedy, we all saw what irrational exuberance did to this city before ;>
CODA:
*) Entry composed in on the sun-drenched fields of the fabulously refurbished Esprit Park in Dogpatch. It'a now a hidden city gem for most all park needs.
*) The Autumnal Equinox passed Friday evening. Days are now shorter than nights. In 37 days Daylight Savings will end. In 3 months Winter begins. As the Pacific High dissipates (a giant high pressure that sits over the Pacific all summer) we'll see our first rains, and our rainy period can begin as soon as November and as late as January.

Yes, it was and is a beautiful time in the city just wait FLEET WEEK is coming!!!
Maybe I'll have a job by then !
Um.. speak for yourself, SFist. I am pissed that there were so few "fog-enshrouded days" this last summer. Don't think I didn't notice. I LOVE the cold foggy days. Days like today are ok once in a while... but who would want a whole summer of them? I could live in LA if that's what i wanted! Why the hell do you think i live here???
oh... and don't even get me started on the hell that is "Fleet Week"....
I fell in love with San Francisco on a visit this summer, but I'm not sure I could deal with the lack of a real winter with snow.
I turned 43 this day. Only half way there.
I love when old posts get brought up.
It's like *~looking into the past~*
*ghost voice* ooooooooooooo!
