SFist Blotter

innerspace.jpgYou know, maybe the 38 Geary's better after all. A 19-year-old was stabbed to death over a parking space right after midnight Saturday in front of a club on Geary and 3rd. A friend had been trying to save him a street parking spot as he circled the block, a van tried to take the empty spot, and the victim came back to find his friend being attacked by up to five people who'd been in the van. The victim was a recent grad of St. Ignacius prep school, and the suspect had been featured in a documentary about Cambodian immigrants struggling to make it in the Tenderloin.

And while we're on the topic of weird killings in SF -- an SFPD officer is on paid administrative leave after shooting a man at Pacific and Polk who was waving what turned out to be a fake gun, at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Suicide by cop is a strange phenomenon.

Phew, we gotta find something more entertaining for the last blotter item today. Awright! A man trying to steal booze from a Guerneville supermarket decided he'd try to elude the cops by stripping naked and jumping into the Russian River. That all went fine until he noticed the authorities on the other side of the river waiting him out. He tried to turn back, but got caught in a vortex and ultimately had to be saved by deputies in an inflatable boat.

That's sad and all, but I too have wanted to stab someone "guarding" a spot on the street when I'm looking for parking.
